Help with this Site

The content can be viewed at an adjustable or fixed width. A summary box heads each content section and indicates related pages. Each page has a full list of content pages in the left-side expanding menu and word and document search facilities to the right. A News & Updates box allows quick reference to the latest ChangeUp activities. The pages are AAA-rated for access, with additional options.

Viewing

Question Mark This site is best viewed at a screen width of 1024, however, it will adjust the content width to fill the screen. At smaller or larger screen widths you may prefer to fix the width at 1024 to get a better view of the main central content panel - this can be done by selecting 'Fixed Width' on the options menu at top left. MS Internet Explorer is the browser of choice to utilise all the effects and facilities on these web pages.

Content

The content of each page appears in this central white panel. At the top of each page, below the banner, there is a title and summary box with a brief description of the page content. Selecting the icon at top-right of the summary box will give a choice of related pages. The bar at the bottom of each page moves to the top of the page and the menu.

Navigation

The left-hand navigation menu lists site sections in white on a dark background. By clicking on one of the headings it will open to list links to the pages in that section. The arrows at the top of the navigation enable the menu to be fully expanded, closed up or opened to the section containing the current page.

The site can also be navigated from the Index page. All pages are also listed and linked in the Site Map.

To the right, are links to the Home page, Index page and this Help page.

Search Engines

The Search page allows the site to be searched for words on Google or a PicoSearch index. The Google site search is also available on each page at upper right.

The Document Finder enables the selection of a list of ChangeUp documents, either using search words, by category, or by geographic area. Once located, the document can be downloaded or expanded details viewed.

News and Updates

The panel at lower right has a list of news, updates and features. These can be flicked through using the 'Back' and 'Next' arrows or are listed by selecting 'Latest' in the middle. Selecting an item on the list will take you directly to it. Generally the panel will light up when selected, indicating a link to further details about this item on a full web page.

If you would like to be notified of significant site updates and news, please enter an email address in the 'Update Subscribe' field above the News & Updates panel.

Access Options

Lock and Key Top left are options to make the text larger and/or zoom the whole window - this last feature only works with Internet Explorer. If Cookies are enabled on your browser, the text options will apply to all subsequent pages of the site.

The facility to make the text bigger may be preferable to changing browser View-Text Size settings, as it predominately adjusts just the content text without distorting the layout. However, the text sizes throughout the pages have been chosen to view reasonably at Internet Explorer's View-Text Size of 'Larger' and below.

All pages are WAI AAA-Approved using WebXACT to the extent of passing the automatic aspects of the online test for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 as issued by the W3C Web Access Initiative.

As an alternative to navigation, all pages can be accessed from the Site Map.

Printing

Your browser will print just the content of the page without the menus or header. The content should fit to A4 paper width if the margins of the printer are properly adjusted.

National Support Services Draft Framework 2008-11
This is a culmination of the Destination 2014 consultation and the Hubs Review. The framework recommends four support themes of Finance, Performance, Workforce and Voice, each with a strategic lead. From July to September there will be a process of identifying organisations capable of managing and delivering the strategic themes.

The consultation process on Destination 2014 has ensured that a wide range of voices from across the sector have had their say. Destination 2014 outlines how Capacitybuilders will achieve its mission, and how that in turn will help create a more effective third sector - delivering a better quality of life for individuals and communities.

ChangeUp Evaluation
A team of experts has been appointed to scope out the evaluation of ChangeUp. From January 2008, Capacitybuilders will operate an ongoing main evaluation process for ChangeUp, with a focus on the impact that investment in support organisations and networks has on front line organisations.

Review of Hubs
Following the National Hubs Review, the Capacitybuilders Board has committed itself to a programme of change in the future delivery of national support services to the voluntary and community sector and social enterprises.

The new Finance Hub website has improved access to resources that make sense of finance and funding in the Third sector. The website will become a one-stop portal aggregating all the available resources of financial information relevant to the voluntary and community sector. .

An accredited learning scheme for trustees and committee members is being piloted by the UK Workforce and Governance Hubs. It aims to give existing trustees the opportunity to gain skills and also to encourage people from a diverse background to recognise trusteeship as a route to self development .
